Concrete Cancer
Concrete cancer is caused when the steel reinforcing within a concrete slab begins to rust. As the steel rusts it expands, displacing the concrete around it until it becomes brittle and starts to crack.
Before applying any render over the concrete cancer, we first assess the extent of the concrete cancer and route out the source by identifying the rusted reinforcement steel. Fixing concrete cancer isn’t just a case of rendering over it, first the brittle concrete is removed and anti-corrosives are applied to the steel to ensure the problem doesn’t come back.
Once the problematic rusted steel has been addressed, we apply a fresh render to match the surrounding concrete, and ensure the surface is properly waterproofed to prevent the problem from happening again.
With over 17 years in the industry, we’ve seen all sorts of concrete cancer in Sydney, and our team of expert renderers have the tools, materials and experience to ensure your concrete stays pristine for years to come.
